How to Create a Colour Scheme and use Colour Psychology for your Interior

Use colour as a tool to empower your creativity!

Overview

Colour is such a huge topic. Choosing colours for your home or your client can become an overwhelming and confusing process—there is just so much on offer!.

Everyone is attracted to different colours, so rather than replicate a look on Instagram or Pinterest, start designing something that is for yourself and represents your personality. What works for someone doesn’t for someone else.

Professional interior designers, bloggers, design students may already use colours, but this course goes much deeper than what the society tells us colour should do. There is a whole other thing going on with colour psychology and understanding what colours represent you and how you are linked to them.

It will give you the skills to:

  • Discover your creativity with colours
  • Gain insight into the Psychology of colour and how to use this framework can help you to make more intentional design choices
  • Learn about the power of Colour Psychology and how it can transform the way a room feels and look
  • Understanding what paint is
  • The ability to pull together innovative colour schemes for you or your clients

Topics covered

  • How colour travels as light, and how this colour information is interpreted by the eye
  • Historical provenance, the colour wheel, colour terminology, colour harmonies, use of accent colour, colour saturation and modification
  • How the physiology of the eye responds to colour in unexpected and exploitable ways
  • Colour Psychology – theories of the emotional impact of colour
  • What impact does a colour scheme have on your eyes?
  • Colour and Culture – the relevance and significance of local colour associations
  • Exploring the Seasonal personalities
  • How to incorporate both strong and neutral hues into space
  • How can you use this knowledge to inspire colour experimentation?
  • GUEST SPEAKER: Understanding what is paint, how it is made and its finishes
  • Exercise - create the colour scheme analysing your own personality to make sure that you go away with the perfect colour for one of your room
